Packaging for the Senses is a dynamic, automated packaging system that visually communicates both the objective and sensory qualities of
a product collection. It combines fragrance data, illustration, color, and mapping logic that translates scent characteristics into visual elements for an audience of luxury-conscious young adults aged 20–40.
I applied this concept to Comme des Garçons' perfume line, where I researched their minimalist aesthetic and fragrance profiles. I translated these findings into a cohesive visual system using abstract minimal illustrations and a curated color palette that reflects both the brand's character and the perfumes' sensory qualities.
Using the Opensheet API, I converted collected fragrance data from Google Sheets to JSON, creating a generative system that produces unique packaging designs for each perfume automatically.
Completed in three weeks—rebrand of the perfume line, original hand-drawn illustrations, hand-coded generative website, and production mockups. The project strengthened my technical skills in generative design and API integration while reinforcing the importance of deep research and cohesive system-building. It demonstrated how sensory experiences can be effectively translated into minimal yet expressive visual communication.
